Note 13 January 2002 - The Bed Sheet Ideas page has finally expanded and grown into its own little section. Enjoy.
Bedsheets - they're not just for beds any more! :)
I've found bed sheets to be an excellent source of fabrics for sewing for the home. They're wide and seamless, usually need no ironing, all edges are finished, and they go on sale frequently enough to make them affordable. They can make a room look more "together".
The best part is they come in such gorgeous colours and patterns! Don't automatically think little flowers on white - unless of course that appeals to you. Bright geometrics, muted pastels - you're bound to find something that strikes your fancy.
Once you've tried a few of these projects, you'll discover how easy they are to implement. Most of the time, you'll only need to know how to measure and cut accurately, and how to sew and finish a straight seam. Anything extra is up to you. You may eventually end up like me, browsing the linen department of every store you visit, picturing bed linens everywhere in your home except on a bed. Don't say I didn't warn you... :)
Here are a few ideas to get you started, sorted by the room in which they're most commonly found. Check out the other rooms too, though. You may find a suitable idea or some inspiration. If you have any ideas which aren't covered here, please let me know and I'll add them to this section. Thanks!
