The biggest question of all when working with variegated yarns is: How long is the repeat? Is it one of those yarns where the colours repeat every foot or so, or every 5 or 6 feet? This can make a huge difference to whether you choose to go ahead and try this yarn for this particular project, or try to find one more suitable.
It's taking quite some time to gather up this information, so please, if you happen to have a ball or two of variegated yarn handy and could spare a moment to take a few measurements and make a few notes, please do so and send them to me.
